APOLLO HOSPITALS AND ROTARY INTERNATIONAL ANNOUNCES ITS SECOND EDITION OF “LYLF (Lover Your Liver Foudation) NIGHT MARATHON, CHENNAI, 2015”

⦁    Second Night Marathon will be held in Chennai on 14th November, 2015 at Island Grounds from 9:00 pm onwards
⦁    Around 4000 participants  expected from across states
⦁    Every penny that is raised will be donated to LYLF, a not-for-profit organisation devoted to defeating liver diseases. LYLF focuses on prevention, early detection and treatment of liver diseases and helping patients avail treatment for liver ailments. It also promotes research and development in the area of liver disease & the science of transplantation.

Chennai, October 29, 2015:  The Centre for Liver Disease & Transplantation at Apollo Hospitals in association with Rotary International is organising its second biggest Night Marathon in Chennai “Love Your Liver Foundation – LYLF Night Marathon 2015”. This will be held on Saturday, 14th November 2015 at the Island grounds, Chennai. The press gathering was addressed by Dr. Anand Khakhar, Programme Director, Centre for Liver Disease and Transplantation, Apollo Hospitals, Rotary Governor, Marathon Race Director, Dr. Suneeta Reddy, Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals, Dr. Preetha Reddy, Vice Chairperson, Apollo Hospitals and Ms. Nina Reddy, Managing Director, Savera Group of Hotels.

The main objective of this Night Marathon is to educate and increase awareness among the masses about liver diseases, liver wellness and the need to donate organs and tissues. Runners can register themselves for various distance ranging from 3 Km, 5 Km, 10 Km and 21 Km. Commenting on the LYLF Night Marathon, Dr. Preetha Reddy, Vice Chairperson, Apollo Hospitals Group, said, “We are proud to support the second LYLF Night Marathon which aims to educate and increase awareness in preventive healthcare of the liver and the need to donate organs and tissues. We initiated the ‘first night marathon’ in Chennai last year. The overwhelming response has us encouraged to continue this year on year. We will be conducting this night marathon in August 2016 as well.

appolo1Ms Suneetha Reddy, MD Apollo Hospitals, quoted that Tamil-Nadu is a leader in organ transplantation and organ donation in India and the Ministry of Health, Tamil-Nadu has expressed their support for the event. Several luminaries of the sports world including Arjuna Award winner and PadmaSri Ms Shiny Abraham, Arjuna Award winner Ms Susamma have expressed support and will be participating. The event is supported by the ‘Sports Authority of India’ and the Ministry of Tourism, Tamil-Nadu.

Among the running communities, ‘Chennai Runners’ and ‘Dream Runners’ have decided to participate in this event. Rotary International, one of the largest public organizations in the world have expressed absolute alignment with the cause and the proposed event and consequently are partnering the event. More than 5000 runners from Rotary Club are expected to run during this event.

Event organiser, Mr. Sabari Nair, Founder, Crowd Strings, said, “Based on our previous experience, we have specially designed this edition in a different way which gives our runners a trouble-free experience. We are confident this Night Marathon would be a grand success and address the urgent needs”.

Various precautionary measures have been taken to ensure the runners’ safety on the Marathon Day which includes:
⦁    Engagement of  volunteers to ensure a traffic-free running route
⦁    Transportation services for those who want to reach home after the Night Marathon
⦁    Race officials both on the route as well as the beginning and finishing area
⦁    Medical personnel with ambulance facilities from the beginning to the finishing area
⦁    Rest room and hydration facility

Last edition of Night marathon was a humongous success witnessed around 7300 plus participants from across state and from various walks of life. Second edition of Night Marathon is expected to draw around 7000 members from across states and expected to reach out to around ___ million people across globe.
